A Few Perfect Days…
As the sun gently rose over the breathtaking landscape of Provence, I awoke to the delightful fragrance of lavender wafting through the air, filling the morning with its calming essence. The promise of a new day felt like an invitation, and I eagerly strolled through the picturesque streets of Aix-en-Provence. My first stop was Weibels, where I treated myself to a delightful cappuccino paired with a sumptuous breakfast. The café was a feast for the senses, with its vibrant décor and tempting pastries creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that felt almost magical.
After relishing my meal, I wandered through the lively markets, each stall bursting with a treasure trove of delectable meats and cheeses, exquisite linens, and those sweet Callisons that left a delightful impression on my palate. I inhaled deeply, losing myself in the enchanting aroma of sweet almonds mingled with lavender, allowing the beauty of Provence to fill my spirit with inspiration.
As the sun climbed higher in the sky, I sought a moment of respite by one of the luxurious hotel pools, basking in the warmth that enveloped me like a gentle hug, where I relaxed and read tales about Kermit Lynch, who roamed the charming streets of Aix-en-Provence, nurturing dreams of his next adventure. I opted for The Renaissance Hotel, nestled in the city's vibrant hub this time. Its spacious rooms and beautifully manicured grounds provided the perfect escape. On the next trip, I would like to try the captivating hotel of Villa Saint Enge.
Once I felt rejuvenated, the scenic allure of the French countryside drew me in, and I embarked on a picturesque drive to Valensole. There, I lost track of time among the sprawling lavender fields, each bloom whispering the secrets of the region's rich heritage. Continuing my journey, I came upon the stunning Gorges of Verdon, its dazzling blue-green waters beckoning me to explore. I couldn't resist the temptation of a refreshing dip, allowing the cool embrace of the river to wash away the summer heat.
After all that exploring, it was time for a culinary adventure. Château de la Pioline awaited with its extraordinary offerings, promising to enchant my taste buds. Each meticulously crafted dish, from candied popping olives to refined foie gras, transported me deeper into the essence of Provence. The expert sommelier guided me through the delightful world of local wines, making each sip a journey through the region's vibrant history.
On those rare rainy days, I discovered the artistic soul of Aix-en-Provence by visiting the Granet Museum. As I wandered through the halls, I lost myself in the captivating works of Cézanne, the local legend whose art danced with the very spirit of this incredible region.
A trip to Aix-En-Provence is not complete without a visit to their intriguing wine country; my time at Château Le Coste turned into an unforgettable daydream, a charming winery just a short drive from Aix-en-Provence, where every moment felt like stepping into a fairy tale.
